CARDBOARD CLUB If you ever want o see how parents and kids can enjoy themselves together. Present a couple of dozen giant sheets of cardboard and a glue gun. Build a castle a stage set or anything else you can get up to with cardboard. We supply the cardboard the kids supply the imagination (This is the opposite of television)
DEAR GREEN PLACE Get friendly with your park. What’s all this green stuff and who does it belong to, parks and green space in the community. How to use them and keep them for the public use. Open space in the city will be even more crucial when even those with cars need to change their habits as our roads block up and the country side is out of reach ... FREE PRESS INC (Indymedia No Computers) is a free newspaper that will try to say things other newspapers decide is not to important to you. Like housing struggles, campaign news, politics. INC is the newspaper of Indymedia Scotland, is part of a collectively run media outlet, which create written, radio and video journalism and is run by volunteers. MAKE A RADIO Yes a real radio, with soldering irons and stuff. The gear will be there to construct your own wee radio and other electronic and scientific toys. Then you could find out from the Electron Club information on radio on the net and free software.
ELECTRON CLUB Open source is software that is free. Yes I thought that would get you. You can do most of the things you do with expensive software, using programs that are free and easy to download on to your computer. Come and find out about Linux. This is the “real” cool stuff - not your Microsoft, let’s make millionaires tosh. Come and learn about Linux open source freeware.
GLASGOW USER MANUAL Help to create a social map of Govan and beyond by telling us what is happening in your community - your stories - ideas - events - thoughts -pastimes and dreams. Do it on video, photographs, sound, or just use a pencil. Find out how to be part of the User Manual’s pages and what and who it is for.
A CITY STROLL Around 5:00, the second part of the days events. A walk from Govan to the *Centre for Contemporary Arts.(Don’t be feart, it’s only an public art gallery) taking in the developments on the way and reflect what they mean to you. Look at your city as if you were a Martian just landed on earth,. What would you make of it. Where are all the houses, factories? - What are all these strange buildings? Come on a City Stroll and see what the developers have been up to. This walk will be filmed and hopefully shown at the gallery sometime in the evening. Instant media!

*CCA There will be a selection of Books Films and stalls. The CCA is a public funded art centre, available for use to all members of the public. A place that needs used more by the general public as a central meeting place in town. A series of workshops are available there, free: Book events, computer stuff
PI CENTENARY BOOK The Pearce Institute has been open for 100 years. To celebrate a book has been published. Edited by Norie Mackie and Roy Adams the book is a treasure trove of fond recollections of happy days spent in the PI. It also features a wealth of photographs, newspaper articles and other archive material that capture the first one hundred years of the PI. Help to support your local community centre. The new Pearce Cafe is now open.
Purpose: Could work as an informal event to encourage groups/people to think of ways to work with each other for future events.
Use local issues to communicate ideas and mediums that would be useful in creating noise to back up local opinions and campaigns.
Think of ways to to make events enjoyable and sociable to encourage participation by local people.
An invite for folk to meet up and chat about these things at the event.
