F.A.Q.

Who is it for

The manual is for folks who wish to engage in their community - want to know whats going on and how to find out. For those who have this knowledge and want to share it - city wide.

Why do we need it

If we want to halt the erosion of our communities, specifically working class communities, into catchments for the benefit of the mortgage broker, retail outlets, commercial service and entertainment industries, we need to start strengthening the institutions that give a voice to citizen-taxpayers, opinions and invoking their creativity in making decisions that affect them.

How

By proving and encouraging each other, that these things can and still exist. By helping each other out to collate the proof of their existence. By creating through workshops word of mouth the tools to help people get involved

What kind of things do you mean?

Could be as simple as going for a walk in your neighbourhood, take some photographs, talk to people, find out what people think and what you could do together. Or start your own project

Can anybody do it?

Yes. The idea is to get as many people involved as possible. We can find something for everybody to do if they want to help, and we're interested in peoples ideas, of how this could be done.

Can I work on my own or with my group?

We will be encouraging folks to do their own thing, or help setting up their own projects, for inclusion in the manual. (Or whatever else they wish to do.)

Will I learn anything

Yes all sorts of things: Sharing ideas and skills, learning to work with others in a common goal. Try things you haven't attempted yet. How does it work - It works by putting something in and getting plenty out. If we each contribute some information, an idea, our experiences, we will create a rich archive that everyone can use.

Will their be stuff about where I live

Local history, architecture, What are the local issues in your area and is any one doing anything about them. How you could organise finding out what's happening. Gardens allotments, growing your own food, cooking, eating well. The manual will also attempt to explain how and why things are related to each other...
